Smart Cell Phone Users Enjoy Getting Their News Through Their Mobile Device

A recent study showed that one-in-four cell phone users now gets their news via their smart phone personal tech device. What do they surf the most? Sports scores, stock prices, business news, and the weather – and it turns out the weather wins. The weather is the most surfed item on internet enabled 3G and 4G smart phones. This research report comes at a time when ABC is laying off some 400 people in its news division. CBS as you may have heard has laid-off 70 people in the last quarter.

This is big in the Business Financial News, mostly because it hugely affects their bottom line, but also because the smart phone sector is on-fire right now with the new Google Android and Apple iPhone. Motorola, Nokia, and RIM are all watching these trends and there are major advertisements right now with Samsung devices too. The reality is simple – these companies understand their customers and they know the features they want. They didn’t need this recent study to prove what they already know.

The other day, I was in the local Sprint Cell Phone dealer and found that they had plans and were advertising News Feeds with their regular, non-Internet cell phones, along with packages for full-internet and email, even 4G wireless, and OMG are there some killer applications with that? Not only can you get the business news, but local retailers can have themselves programmed into map and GPS applications and advertise on those news feeds. Whooyah! visit:-

Looks like a winner all the way around, for the user, business community, news agencies, advertisers, and the mobile personal tech device makers, component makers, carriers, operating system software designers and smart phone chip makers alike. But, just as I experienced the Sprint Sales Pitch, I note online that all the companies; AT&T, Alltel, Nextel, and Verizon are all-in when it comes to delivering you the daily news, news alerts, and yes, the weather while you are on the go.

Now then, think about it, I have. Would you like to have the news as you go about your day? So, you do not miss anything? Would you also like to get your emails too? What about mapping and GPS? Sure you would, who wouldn’t and for an extra monthly fee on your cell phone plan – you really can have it all. But, I warn you, you have to read the fine print, the cost per text message, news feeds, minutes, family and friend’s plans, roaming fees, and lock-in. As you never know when the next new application will come and you’ll want to upgrade again. Please consider all this.
